John Hoyland

John Hoyland (1934-2011) born in Sheffield he went on to become one of the new wave of abstract expressionist artists based in London during the 1950's and 60's.
He visited the USA in 1964 and met Motherwell, Rothko and Newman and had his first solo show in the same year at the Marlborough Gallery in London. As well as describing himself as "A Painter" he was a tireless printmaker for most of career. 

His work is in major collections all around the world.
