"The Return of History" is a unique artwork created by American and Swiss artists Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg. Combining Scandinavian and Venetian glassmaking techniques, their sculptural centrepieces are made from small elements of blown and cut glass nestled inside a metal shell. "We are migratory creatures; the history of our species is one of journeys, departures, departures and arrivals, of beginnings again. And no one is more migratory than us. Our new work is both culturally and personally inclined. An autobiographical touch in civilizational reflection. Wherever man goes, he builds, establishing cultural lines that gradually transform into relics and artifacts in the inevitable march of time. Cityscapes and complex designs grow and expand, deteriorate and decay. And we move on, carrying with us the memories of our exploits to use them."
